Care of the Soul
"There's little wisdom,
owner of the sap-laden tree,
to watch the growth of your frail apples,
yet to be careless of your own soul."
___ anon. Irish poem (trans CM)
As with the care of trees and plants, of the soul cannot be left up0 to nature if we wish to have the best results. The fruits of spirit never ripen upon an unfrequented soul. Care of the soul is at least as important as care of the body. Listen to the soul's needs carefully - though these may not be easy to hear if we have been in the habit of ignoring them. The soul feeds on beauty, harmony, recreation, creativity, and connectedness with all that nourished its core.
Look closely at what we have been put on earth to achieve. Pursuing our vision and putting ourselves upon the path of our vocation can help bring us into great alignment with the soul's powers. From this alignment will come a living, connective bridge between ourselves, our world, and the otherworld.
If your understanding of spirit has been envisioned in unhelpful images and metaphors, use your soul's intrinsic sensitivity to change those metaphors and images and find ones which you can be fully responsive. The soul is wiser than we.
Listen to your soul. Ask your spiritual allies to show you what it most needs."
